If you or your builder are proposing to undertake works such as conservatory construction or erection of a new fence, it is always advisable to check the location of your drainage system prior to commencement of works.
Repair and reinstatement of damage when a fence post is accidentally inserted through a drain can be costly and disruptive. In instances where this is found to be the cause of a blockage, the solution is usually removal of the post followed by an emergency excavation or possibly insertion of a patch liner.

Blockages due to toys etc, whilst highly disruptive, can generally be easily removed by electro-mechanical rodding or high pressure jetting. Items must be removed from the system rather than being moved by rodding to prevent further downstream blockages.
A surprising number of blockages are caused by toys or fresheners entering drains or toilet pans. Many are the result of the inappropriate flushing of nappies or other sanitary waste down the WC.
